Luckily, not all vegetarians are the same

Although I've been a vegetarian for 14 years, I've never dated a vegetarian guy before in my entire life.
Most vegetarians (except my family) i know are weird. They either live in their own world, are hard to please or are just plain boring.
There are even times where i felt damn exasperated or ashamed to be part of them.
I'm definitely nt ashamed of my diet, in fact, i feel proud that i do not eat cute animals.
why i'm ranting is because today i had a unpleasant experience with a fellow vegetarian at work.
it goes like this~
we are going to have a company retreat next week at sentosa. and the org. committee came to ask me about my dietary requirements. I am quite an easy going person ~ so as long as there is some food to fill the stomach..maybe fried rice or a fried vege..its enough for me.
but this someone came to tell me this 'its not good enough, we also have a budget for our food..so it must at least be of some standard..we must have our rights..blah blah blah..'
at this point, i'm already darn irritated so i said 'if u are so smart, next time u go and tell the organiser la' and he still add oil and ask me to go and inform the organiser. my blood is really boiling liao! 'if u are so hard to please and ma fan (troublesome), u go and tell yourself'.
I'm really really irritated. The reason why I am being a vegetarian is because i am willing to give up good food for the sake of animals. I dun mind eating bland food, boring food or bread just as long as it is convenient for others and for myself. It is already nt easy to influence others to be vegetarians and if we were to continue to be such an inconvenience to others, wont it irk people more?
And we are already a minority, i am already grateful tat fellow colleagues are very accomodating towards our needs, what more can we ask for?
As vegetarians, we should be more easy-going, good natured so that others will be more receptive towards our diet. If one is selfish and calculative, we cant blame others for thinking that vegetarians are overbearing and find us a turn off.
Eventually, what do we want to achieve? Vegetarians are a turn on or turn off? Our behaviour decides.

I'm just glad that my other friends and colleagues do not stereotype me as one of them. But the thought of sitting with these people at the meals during the retreat just really turns me off now already.
