would you like to have kids?

last year, i had my first niece, a lovely pretty baby by the name of Genevieve.
she had the biggest, brightest eyes and also the loudest cries. haha!
and as she was the 'newcomer' in the family, she was the one in the spotlight.
i love kids and love playing with them! but having them is really an entirely different thing.
i had this conversation with my little sis who doesnt like kids the other day.
she: would u want to hv kids one day?
me: hmm..would u like someone else to live your life?
she: no! i think living is so miserable, we have to study, work, there are so many problems! whether u are rich or poor!
me: then do u think we are being selfish to have children and to make them go through this kind of life? or not to have children and have people think that we are selfish?

have u ever had suicidal thoughts? or have u ever blamed your parents for bringing u into this world when u were in your 'down' moments. Regrettably, i had. i have wonderful parents who gave me a gd upbringing and a comfortable life, but i still feel life is really more miseries than happiness.

today, my mom told me that my cousin had been caught shoplifting few days ago. she is only in her teens. my uncle was devastated, he had my cousin when he was in his 40s. she was the only child and was the apple in his eye. as a blue collar worker, he worked very hard for his only daughter and she had everything she wanted. he would never scold or beat her.
if u had such a loving parent, would u be grateful or even more appreciative? sometimes i really feel very sad for my uncle.

my ex had parents who helped him pay off $80000 of his debts using their hard earned money. and yet, he remain unappreciative and ungrateful.
How long does it take for these people to regret their actions before it is too late?

in buddhism, we view kids are our creditors or debtors. if they are filial, most prob they are here to pay off their debts to u, if they are not, u may hv owed them in your previous life.

thus, sometimes, it may not be a bad thing if you do not have kids at all.
hey, dun misunderstand, i am not anti-kids, i still love kids.
but just thinking aloud after hearing abt my cousin. i wish that she can understand my uncle's feelings and be a better daughter soon.
