an encounter with a Lama

sorry for the lack of posts.
I was on a mind boggling course for the past two days and am too tired to think of anything after that.
Anyway, i had a very enlightening session with a Rinpoche (a tibetan lama) last evening. actually it was by fate we met. my friend, ms a likes to see him for advice whenever she encounters any problems in life and as a very kapo friend, i just wanted to see how he is like. moreover, i have always been very interested in tibetan buddhism after reading the book written by sheng ge rinpoche (the very handsome lama).
yesterday was actually the second time i went to visit him. the first time i didnt really talk to him. but i was feeling troubled and hoped that he could offer some advice.
but he saw me again yesterday, he said " when i first saw u the first time, i can see that u have great affinity with Buddha". i was pleasantly surprised to hear that, i had always been interested and practiced buddhism and vegetarianism since young.
i asked Rinpoche whether i can ever find happiness? and whether my life will be good in the future.
He said
"if you want your life to be good, you must do more good deeds and cultivate more merits. when you are a kind person, you will get good karma. and when you get good karma, everything will go very smoothly for u. thus, even if you did not have a good destiny, your fate will also change. "
I find that really meaningful. Previously, i love to go for fortune telling and would always resign myself to fate whenever i encounter obstacles in my life. although i may look very happy on the outside, i am actually very pessimistic and depressed in the inside.
Rinpoche also asked me what is the main aim of Buddhism?
The answer is to understand the concept of cause and effect and being kind and merciful.

At today's course, we were tasked to write a poem about our inner feelings and this is what i wrote:
My Role Model
Buddha is my role model in life
He taught me to be kind and merciful
So that I can be a better person in life

Sometimes i meet with tough obstacles
I wish Buddha can take me away
Instead, he shows me the way and gives me strength
So that i can have the power to carry on with life

Thanks Rinpoche for the enriching and enlightening session, i will never forget your advice. It will be constantly in my mind.
I wish you all the best :)
